Alcohol
One week without alcohol: avoid the universal reset story
It is tempting to say everyone is “clean” or “reset” after seven days. Drinking patterns, health and dependence differ too much for that promise.
Safety first: alcohol withdrawal and withdrawal from some drugs can be medically dangerous. If you are a heavy or regular user, have had withdrawal before, or feel unwell when stopping, seek medical advice.
Early withdrawal is only one part
Physical withdrawal may ease over days, while sleep, mood, cravings and routines can continue changing beyond the first week.
Use the week as information
Notice sleep, appetite, mood, social triggers and the times of day you think about drinking.
No dramatic change is still information
Not feeling transformed by day seven does not mean the decision was pointless. Different effects change on different timelines.
Use the tool: choose a realistic next interval, return and answer honestly. A NO does not erase previous choices. The timer is not a substitute for medical treatment.
