Changing drug use: choice matters, and safety matters more
The same simple interface cannot safely treat every substance as equivalent.
Safety first: alcohol withdrawal and withdrawal from some drugs can be medically dangerous. If you are a heavy or regular user, have had withdrawal before, or feel unwell when stopping, seek medical advice.
Different drugs, different risks
Opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, cannabis and other drugs have different intoxication, withdrawal and overdose profiles.
Do not use a timer as detox advice
Regular use, previous withdrawal, pregnancy, prescribed medicines and major health conditions are reasons to seek medical guidance.
Recovery can use many tools
Clinical treatment, medication, peer support, self-care and a private check-in can all have roles.
Use the tool: choose a realistic next interval, return and answer honestly. A NO does not erase previous choices. The timer is not a substitute for medical treatment.
