Alcohol
Reducing alcohol without turning it into a perfection contest
For some people the goal is abstinence; for others it is substantial reduction.
Safety first: alcohol withdrawal and withdrawal from some drugs can be medically dangerous. If you are a heavy or regular user, have had withdrawal before, or feel unwell when stopping, seek medical advice.
Define what reduction means
Translate “much less” into actual drinking days, quantities and situations you will avoid.
Look at consequences
Blackouts, dangerous behaviour, driving, conflict, missed work and loss of control matter even if the total quantity is lower.
Change the goal if needed
If planned moderation repeatedly collapses, the plan may need to become stricter or include professional help.
Use the tool: choose a realistic next interval, return and answer honestly. A NO does not erase previous choices. The timer is not a substitute for medical treatment.
